Gilad Raichshtain, Managing Director

At 16, Gilad was recruited by Intel as a performance engineer (as Intel’s youngest employee worldwide), and began his undergraduate studies at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. A serial entrepreneur, Gilad founded several ventures in the past years. Among others, he boosted the world’s most popular MP3 encoder (LAME); discussed in leading hardware magazines, including Tom’s Hardware and has recently founded Contendo, an online advertising startup. Mr. Raichshtain holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Technion.

After completing her master’s degree in Computer Science, Gayle spent three years at Google as Software Engineer and taught two Computer Science courses at the University of Washington. Gayle left Google to be the VP of Engineering of Keenscreen, a small startup in online advertising. She is also the founder and CEO of two companies. The first company, CareerCup.com, provides technical interview prep for engineers. The second company, Seattle Anti-Freeze, organizes social and athletic activities for young professionals.

After only a month in college, Josh founded ResFridge etc, a student-owned appliance rental business. From mini-refrigerators, he moved to shipping and storage with Collegeboxes. Under Josh’s leadership, Collegeboxes grew to 60 campuses. In 2006, the Wall Street Journal recognized Collegeboxes as the nation’s largest collegiate shipping and storage company. In 2008, Collegeboxes was acquired by Store-to-Door. Josh has been recognized by Inc. Magazine as a “Top 30 Entrepreneur Under 30” and by the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. Josh is currently a first-year MBA student at Wharton.

Prior to Wharton, Kathleen invested in equity at the inception stage of Green Rock Entertainment, the start-up toy/game manufacturing company whose main product was Cahootie, the iconic imaged fortune-teller game with stickers. As co-President and Board Director, she grew company from a product idea to several Cahootie versions selling hundreds of thousands of Cahooties throughout the US and internationally in stores such as Limited Too, Justice, Learning Express, and Hallmark. Kathleen led the vision and strategy to create a profitable company and won Ernst & Young’s Winning Women award for success and potential of Cahootie. She then sold Cahootie to a private equity firm in May 2009. Before Green Rock Entertainment / Cahootie, Kathleen was an investment banker in the Financial Services Group of Raymond James and a graduate of General Electric Capital’s Financial Management Program. She currently is on Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women Advisory Board and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chicago Leadership Board.

Shawn Kumar, Associate

Before attending Wharton, Shawn was an Associate at Time Warner Investments, an early to mid-stage venture capital arm targeting an investment size of up to $25MM. Prior to that, he worked in private equity at General Atlantic Partners and in investment banking at Citigroup, where he focused on the technology sector. Shawn received a BS in Applied Economics from Cornell University.

Edward Chan, Associate

Prior to Wharton, Edward joined the Healthcare team at Siemens Venture Capital (SVC) in July 2006 and was promoted to Associate in 2008. At SVC he evaluated and sourced deals worldwide, performed research on various market sectors, and developed portfolio companies. He was a Board Observer at MD Datacor and was actively involved with the following portfolio companies: BioImagene, RadPharm, China Diagnostics, U-Systems, and Cylex. Prior to joining SVC, Edward performed equity research at Legg Mason in Baltimore and had experience in developing medical technology at a venture backed start up. He has mentored various start-ups to raise over $30 million in venture financing and is a board member at various nonprofits, most notably the Massachusetts Oyster Project.

Jared Teo, Associate

Prior coming to The Wharton School, Jared was at Phoenix DeVentures, a medical device incubator, where he worked closely with entrepreneurs to brainstorm solutions for a number of healthcare issues. Prior to Phoenix, Jared worked in a number of medical device startup companies, as a Project Manager in R&D, and commercialized several novel medical device products. Jared graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 2004 with a B.S. degree in Bioengineering.

Jonathan Godin, Associate

After graduating from Johns Hopkins with a neuroscience degree, Jonathan Godin matriculated at the University of Michigan Medical School. While in college, Jonathan conducted cancer research at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and neuropharmacology research at the National Institutes of Health. During medical school, he completed an orthopedic surgery research fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Jonathan is currently a first year MBA student in the healthcare management program at the Wharton School.

Todd Holmes, Associate

Prior to Wharton, Todd was an Associate at the Biotechnology Value Fund, a venture-style investment fund focused in small to mid-cap public biotechnology companies. There he was responsible for all aspects of the investment process including sourcing, scientific diligence, negotiations and portfolio management. Before joining the Biotechnology Value Fund, Todd was an Associate in the life sciences and technology lending practice at SVB Financial in Silicon Valley. He holds a BA in Economics from Colgate University.
